Jim Lawyer

Jim Lawyer is a leader in the online marketing space and has assisted thousands of advertisers and media companies reach new customers through combined use of digital platforms and traditional media. As the author of several training programs focused on strategic selling and tactical approaches to marketing online, Jim has a unique perspective how to create and present new revenue opportunities to internal sales teams as well as to small- and medium-sized businesses in local markets.

Jim started his newspaper career at the Albany (NY) Times Union as the Automotive Classified Manager where he was part of the team that developed and launched some of the first online local automotive portals--CapitalCars.com and AutomotiveWeekly.com. To assist local dealers in understanding this new and exciting medium, he created a two-day regional conference “Net Profits: Selling on the Internet” which was subsequently adopted by other newspapers.

Jim later took his talents to PowerOne Media where he launched online automotive channels for hundreds of local media companies—allowing them to grow new revenue and secure their position within the very competitive online automotive advertising space. He was the co-creator of the national automotive channel BeepBeep.com and also served as President of Megawheels.com, a Tier One Canadian-based online automotive channel and republishing company.

Jim’s expertise has been sought after by numerous media companies such as Scripps, Media News, Media General and Hearst. His training programs, “Club Scout Selling”, “Coffee is for Closers”, and “The 5 P’s to Successfully Launching a Local Automotive Portal” have been featured at a number of media conferences and ad clubs.

Jim lives in Atlanta where he can often be found riding the back roads of the Smokey Mountains on his 2002 Honda VTX 1800! Vroooom!
